DPM Sar Kheng Tells Authorities to Ensure the Arrest of the 900kg Drug Traffickers in Sihanoukville

Phnom Penh: The Minister of Interior, DPM Sar Kheng, told the authorities to investigate and arrest the ringleaders and suspects involved in large-scale drug trafficking in Sihanoukville, on which the authorities raided a warehouse on December 11, 2022, and punish them in accordance with the law.

Speaking at the celebration of National Anti-Human Trafficking Day on December 12, 2022, under the theme "Eliminate human trafficking towards achieving sustainable development goals," DPM said the mission is not complete yet because the drug dealer has not been arrested yet.

DPM Sar Kheng said, "If we only managed to seize more than 800 kilograms of drugs but failed to apprehend the masterminds or traffickers, it would appear that our mission is not yet over."

In this regard, DPM would like to emphasize that in order to reduce drug crimes and protect social welfare, the authorities must crack down on suspects, in other words, the masterminds of drug traffickers.

It should be noted that the drug raid on large-scale drug traffickers, in which authorities have seized nearly 900 kilograms at a rental warehouse in Sangkat 1, Sihanoukville, on December 11, 2022, is the biggest drug bust in December.

In July 2022, Sihanoukville authorities had raided premises where they found more than 300 tons of drugs and arrested 11 Chinese suspects.

Authorities are also cracking down on large-scale drug trafficking in other provinces.
